About our Director

Our House Director, Joanne, is a sober member of AA for over 16 years and living in the South Bay. She has over 12 years experience in the Recovery environment. Through passion and sheer joy of seeing women recover, Joanne has successfully managed 4 Sober Living Houses, watching hundreds of women come through and succeed.
Joanne has a college counseling certificate in drug and alcohol recovery. She maintains her job as a Drug and Alcohol Counselor, and intake specialist at the Thelma McMillan Center in Torrance. She is also a volunteer at Torrance Memorial Medical Center Chemical Dependency Program.
Someone in the community, who Joanne had helped in their recovery, suggested that Joanne open up her own home. With a lot of love, volunteers and people who supported Joanne’s dream she opened House of Miracles in May of 2004.
Joanne has worked hard with a Board of Directors to establish and maintain two sober living homes. Joanne represents the Recovery community by attending Recovery conventions and symposiums annually. This allows a constant flow of patients to Thelma McMillen Center. It is also a stepping stone to a life of sobriety. She gently guides some of the Women into a continued way of sober living by introducing them to House of Miracles. She has developed strong relationships with other South Bay Recovery homes.
Joanne has established resident participation in The ALSB Labor Day Picnic, AA Conventions, and the annual Holiday Boutique held at the Redondo Beach HOM. She is a member of SARB (School Attendance Review Board).Joanne has established resident participation in The ALSB Labor Day Picnic, AA Conventions, and the annual Holiday Boutique held at the Redondo Beach HOM.
